March 20, 2011

I was a bit surprised to learn that the U-Bahn (subway) out to the Berlin Zoological Garden to see the famous polar bear cub. It was a rainy day and I remember spending several minutes wandering around the vast zoo looking for the biggest attraction, but eventually found the celebrity.

Knut, a polar bear cub, peers out of his enclosure as he sits perched on a rock on Monday, July 7, 2007, at the Berlin Zoological Garden. Knut gained worldwide fame after he was rejected by his mother as a club and raised by the zoo's keepers.
