Last month I had the opportunity to photograph Richard Welch, a retired U.S. Army colonel, for a story in The Wall Street Journal about the U.S. government’s delay in processing visas for Iraqis who assisted Welch and other American troops during the war. With the rise of the Islamic State and other factions hostile to the United States, these Iraqis and their families now find themselves as targets as they wait years for visas to enter the U.S.
Here are a few photos I shot a couple months back for part of a feature on Sandy Britton, Associate Director of International Student Life in the Office of International Services at Indiana University, as part of a Her Story feature for IU Communications.

This past weekend was the Indiana News Photographers Association annual contest here in Bloomington. For the second year in a row, I organized the contest. It was a crazy busy weekend, but I had the chance to snap a few photos along the way.
