Snapshots from a wedding

October 11, 2010

This weekend was very special for me. I was a groomsman in my best friend’s wedding. Since I was in the wedding, I wasn’t the official photographer, but I did manage to snap a few shots here and there throughout the weekend. As always, I looked for the more in-between moments. During the ceremony, I rigged a remote camera in a balcony and tripped the shutter using a PocketWizard in my pocket. I’m the last groomsman on the right side in the first shot. The second shot is the groom, Ian Shannon, warming up just before the start of the ceremony in the basement of the church. He played “Everlong” by the Foo Fighters as his bride, Erica Murray, walked down the aisle. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception, and I was honored to be a part of it. It was weird to be back in front of the camera although as you can see below I managed to get behind it a few times.

A personal feature

October 8, 2010

For the first time in several years, I’m going to a wedding that I’m not photographing for hire. In fact, I’m in the wedding. It’ll definitely be a new experience for me since I’m kind of used to being the fly on the wall. The lucky couple are my best friends Ian Shannon and Erica Murray, who are pictured below. I thought I’d share this frame since they’re getting hitched this weekend. This was a candid moment between the two as Ian was recording with his band in her apartment.
