Last week for the second time in a year, I was attacked by a bird. (The first attack came as I was wearing a GoPro.) I was on a community assignment to photograph a gentleman who will be showing birds in an upcoming bird show. I started shooting as he moved to take Tangerine, a nine-year-old Catalina Macaw, out of a cage. As he did this, the bird charged my camera, hitting the lens and falling to the floor. The bird’s wings were clipped meaning it could only lunge at me. The bird and I were both fine although I nearly had a heart attack. I was able to get off a couple frames (below) somehow during the attack. Not sure what it is about birds, but they sure as hell don’t like me.

Notre Dame football begins spring practice

Here I was technically photographing something referred to as “spring” football, but it was 2 degrees Fahrenheit and I couldn’t feel my fingers by the time I hit the door. Let’s hope we thaw out in time for the Blue-Gold game.

Elkhart police officers honored at Indiana State Capitol

During the reading of the resolution, I caught this moment as the son of one of the officers took a seat on the floor of the House in front of his dad.
