Gunslinger detail

June 11, 2011

I guess I’m a details sort of mood lately. I was looking for a quick feature picture for the paper on Friday afternoon when I walked past a mock gunslinger gun fight a couple blocks short of downtown. Cha ching. Although the gun fight itself didn’t pan out as expected, I was pleased with this frame from the event.

Sweet, smooth and sassy

May 7, 2011

I have to admit a personal bias: I love ’57 Chevys. On Saturday, I was featuring hunting when I came across a little car show going on about two blocks from the newsroom. Walking through the cars, I immediately gravitated to a gorgeous 1957 Chevy Bel Air. After about 30 or so frames from this angle, I struck up a conversation with the owner about his car. I grew up around and inside ’57 Chevys. My dad owns one that he drives to car conventions every summer. Before moving to Cheyenne in January, the only time I had seen the city was from the backseat of my dad’s Bel Air as we drove to Reno, Nevada from Indiana.

Spectators lean over to get a better look at the inside of a 1957 Chevy Bel Air owned by Jim Elmore of Cheyenne during a car show on Saturday, May 7, 2011, along Thomas Avenue in front of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in downtown Cheyenne. Warm weather with no wind drew several cars and curious spectators. Advertisements in 1957 dubbed the car "sweet, smooth and sassy."
