Peoria Christian headed to state championship game

This weekend my editor sent me up to Naperville, Ill. to cover a local team, Peoria Christian School, in the state soccer semi-final game. I love road trips because its always nice to get out of the area and see something new. I took a kind of backward way up to Naperville from Peoria to avoid traffic, and I got to see some very beautiful countryside along the way. This trip will be especially interesting since Peoria Christian won 1-0 to advance to Saturday night’s championship game. This means I’m staying up in the Chicago area all day. I’ve got my Holga with me so I’ll have to see what I come up with in the loop.

Day one in Peoria

Today is the first day of my fall internship at the Peoria Journal Star. It’s already quite a bit different than Austin, but I’ve got six months to get used to it. After meeting the staff, I went out with one of the staffers to shoot a local high school soccer game.
