USPS considering closure of Meriden, Wyoming post office

June 13, 2011

Last week I worked on a story with writer Josh Rhoten about the Meriden, Wyo. post office. The branch there is expected to be one of several on the USPS chopping block. If the small post office closes, it could force some residents to drive up to 50 miles for basic postage services. Read more of the story here.

Kodilyn Krakow, a contracted mail carrier at the Meriden, Wyo. post office, waits by the door for a delivery of mail from the Cheyenne post office on Friday, June 10, 2011. The United States Postal Service is considering closing the Meriden post office, which houses about 30 post office boxes for residents of the rural community in northern Laramie County.

Gunslinger detail

June 11, 2011

I guess I’m a details sort of mood lately. I was looking for a quick feature picture for the paper on Friday afternoon when I walked past a mock gunslinger gun fight a couple blocks short of downtown. Cha ching. Although the gun fight itself didn’t pan out as expected, I was pleased with this frame from the event.

Roger "Lucky" Barnes, a member of the Cheyenne Gunslingers, talks to a few spectators before a mock gunfight on Friday, June 10, 2011, in downtown Cheyenne.
