Notre Dame features

March 7, 2012

Found a few features today as I walked around the Notre Dame campus. A string of warm days has prompted me to walk around the campus to look for features this week. Today we were in the 60s. Can’t wait for spring officially to arrive.

Joe Dolan, a sophomore from Fishers, Ind., checks his iPhone as he lays under a cocoon of blankets on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, on a grassy area in front of Fisher Hall on the Notre Dame campus. Dolan said he had been laying out since about 8 a.m. and planned to do so until a class at 4 p.m. (James Brosher/South Bend Tribune)

Kelly Gibson, a senior at Notre Dame, interacts with a passing student as she encourages them to sign a pledge to stop using the word "retarded" in a harmful context on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Notre Dame's South Dining Hall. The pledge drive is part of End the R-Word Day, a national drive on some 230 universities. The effort at Notre Dame was sponsored by the Special Olympics Notre Dame and Best Buddies organizations. Taylor Nutter, left, a sophomore, plays the guitar as he protests against HEI, a hotel management company, with Ryan O'Laughlin, a senior, on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, outside Notre Dame's South Dining Hall. The students marched across campus with the banner and guitar to protest what they see as HEI's abuse of worker rights. (James Brosher/South Bend Tribune)
