The day of the cow at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair

My paper was in need of A1 wild art again today so I was able to convince my editor to let me drive over to Goshen, Ind. for the Elkhart County Fair. The fair is one of the largest county fairs in the country so I figured I might be able to get something out of it. It just so happened that today was the big 4-H dairy show.

Kern is showing for her second year in 4-H, but is a fourth-generation participant. Many 4-Hers and their cows filled the stalls on Tuesday afternoon as they prepared for the day's dairy show competitions. (James Brosher/South Bend Tribune)
