This summer I photographed the 12th USA International Harp Competition on the Indiana University campus here in Bloomington. This was my second time photographing the event, which is held every three years. I had been looking forward to the competition since the organizers asked me last summer to document it once again. The great thing about being a photographer is the ability to use your camera as a passport to worlds you otherwise would never have the opportunity to explore. This was certainly the case for me with this community of world-class harpists. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to capture this event once again – and equally grateful that I had mirrorless camera silent shutters to help the cause this time around.
After a late-race crash eliminated several competitors, Phi Delta Theta rider Jimmy Kulik outsprinted riders from Sigma Phi Epsilon and JETBLACH to capture victory in the 71st Men’s Little 500. The win is the fraternity’s first since 2001.
