In the 75th Men’s Little 500, Black Key Bulls survived a chaotic finish, avoiding a multi-team crash on lap 199 of 200 en route to the team’s third-straight victory. The pileup eliminated several leading teams from contention and opened the door for Cinzano and Bears to round out the podium. I’ve photographed 29 editions of the men’s and women’s races in 15 years. This was without a doubt the craziest finale I’ve ever seen. Presented below are a few of my photos documenting the race. This year, I also had the great pleasure of documenting the event alongside students from my Little 500 Photography class in the IU Media School. Here is a selection of my favorite shots from a fantastic edition of the Women’s Little 500 last month. In the race, Alpha Chi Omega out-sprinted Teter and Kappa Alpha Theta to capture the team’s first-ever victory in the 38th Women’s Little 500. The Little 500 is more than just two days of racing. In the weeks leading up to the races each year, teams compete in the Spring Series, a set of events that includes Individual Time Trials, Miss-N-Out and Team Pursuit. Together, these events test speed, strategy and teamwork, often revealing the strongest teams in the field before the Little 500 races themselves.
