Following Notre Dame’s win against Southern California a couple weeks ago, I spent two days wandering around Los Angeles doing a bit of sightseeing before coming back to South Bend. One of my first stops was the Griffith Observatory overlooking the Los Angeles skyline. Several pivotal scenes in James Dean’s “Rebel Without A Cause” were filmed there, making it instantly a place I wanted to visit. I lucked out and hiked up to the observatory just in time to enjoy some incredible evening light.

Mishawaka Pilots Club Airport
A few weeks back I had the opportunity to spend a bit of an afternoon photographing the Mishawaka Pilots Club Airport, a small airport outside of Elkhart, for a community section feature. While I was there, the club’s president, Dee Davis, took me up for a few laps around the airport in the air.
