Hell on Wheels and a Holga

July 12, 2011

A few weeks back, I photographed Hell on Wheels, a shooting competition where participants from around the world dress in Old West costumes and fire weapons from the Old West. Given the period costumes, I couldn’t resist firing off a couple rolls on my Holga.

Stormtroopers, old cars, Wyoming and a Holga

July 11, 2011

I’ve gotten to the point where I carry two Holgas with me everyday to work: one loaded with 100 ASA film and one loaded with 400 ASA film. The results are negatives full of random, in-between moments from my daily newspaper assignments. Here is the latest edition on what is slowly becoming a regular feature on my blog.

Austin Brown relaxes on a railing as he fishes in the rain on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, on Sloan Lake in Lions Park. Brown and his cousin, Tyler Kendall, had caught three fish by early afternoon on Tuesday. "It's the best time (to fish) when it's raining," Brown said of their fishing success.

Cheyenne Regulators

June 26, 2011

A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to photograph the of folks who dress in old west period outfits and compete in shooting competitions using six shooters, shotguns and rifles from the old west. At one point one of the regulators came up to me and asked if I wanted to shoot. “I already am,” I said as I showed him my Canon 5D.
