I photographed spaghetti squash recently for a recipe posted on my wife’s food and lifestyle website, The Broadcasting Baker. As the weather turned this past fall, I threw together a small product table studio in the basement to photograph dishes like this for her site. It’s a change to the approach I had used previously in which I shot most of the dishes outside on our porch. So far I like the results, but I’m definitely ready for warmer weather and a return to my porch studio.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to make portraits of a few Indiana University Bloomington employees who will be honored with staff merit awards next week. For the past several weeks, the only portraits I’ve shot have been lit and in the studio. It was refreshing to grab a 50 mm f/1.2 lens and challenge myself to find clean backgrounds in the environments where these staffers work on campus.
The fifth-ranked Michigan women’s cross country team finished second at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Led by a second-place overall finish from Erin Flynn, Michigan narrowly missed a national championship by a single point to Oregon.
