Ava Courtney, 3, shows a marshmallow "tooth" to her mother, Shelly, during a teeth-related craft session on Monday, June 20, 2011, in the Laramie County Library's second floor storytime room. "She's been wanting to lose a tooth for a long time," Courtney joked about her daughter, who popped the marshmallow out like a tooth before eating it.

2:50 a.m.

June 18, 2011

I usually don’t find myself taking photos at 2:50 a.m. very often. But I made an exception a couple nights ago when my folks got ready to depart my apartment for Indiana at that very time. About 18 hours later my folks were sitting in their driveway in Dunkirk, Ind. Not too shabby.

USPS considering closure of Meriden, Wyoming post office

June 13, 2011

Last week I worked on a story with writer Josh Rhoten about the Meriden, Wyo. post office. The branch there is expected to be one of several on the USPS chopping block. If the small post office closes, it could force some residents to drive up to 50 miles for basic postage services. Read more of the story here.

Kodilyn Krakow, a contracted mail carrier at the Meriden, Wyo. post office, waits by the door for a delivery of mail from the Cheyenne post office on Friday, June 10, 2011. The United States Postal Service is considering closing the Meriden post office, which houses about 30 post office boxes for residents of the rural community in northern Laramie County.
