‘Cinema Paradiso’ screening at Memorial Stadium

September 30, 2020

This year I have been struck by the visual oddness of the COVID-19 crisis. This pandemic is forcing us to reimagine things we used to take for granted like going to the movies. IU Cinema got creative and used the university’s empty football stadium to screen Giuseppe Tornatore’s 1988 masterpiece, “Cinema Paradiso.” The screening was also the final public event for IU Cinema’s founding director Jon Vickers. It’s been a great pleasure for me to work with Jon over the years photographing IU Cinema’s various events. The event was a fitting send-off and a rare opportunity for members of the IU community to gather amidst the pandemic.

Twin H Tree Farms

December 8, 2019

Back in October, I got to spend a bit of an afternoon out at the Twin H Tree Farms. It was a rare excursion off campus to capture photos of the farm to go with a piece highlighting research by a professor at the Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs revealing a 40 percent decrease in Indiana Christmas tree farms since 2002.
