Wednesday was a leap day, but for two of my best friends it’s something a little more special. For Larry and Erin, Feb. 29, 2012 was their wedding day. As I joked, Larry planned the whole thing out so he only has to buy flowers for Erin once every four years. I wanted to send out another heartfelt congratulations to my beautiful friends with a frame of them I shot a couple years back at the German Christkindlmarkt in Chicago. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan!
Personal
Cabin light
I’m back home in Indiana this weekend. Couple days ago I was hanging out with one of my best friends, Larry Buchanan, at his cabin and noticed the sun hitting him just right as he watched “Pawn Stars” on his couch.
2:50 a.m.
I usually don’t find myself taking photos at 2:50 a.m. very often. But I made an exception a couple nights ago when my folks got ready to depart my apartment for Indiana at that very time. About 18 hours later my folks were sitting in their driveway in Dunkirk, Ind. Not too shabby.
A personal feature
For the first time in several years, I’m going to a wedding that I’m not photographing for hire. In fact, I’m in the wedding. It’ll definitely be a new experience for me since I’m kind of used to being the fly on the wall. The lucky couple are my best friends Ian Shannon and Erica Murray, who are pictured below. I thought I’d share this frame since they’re getting hitched this weekend. This was a candid moment between the two as Ian was recording with his band in her apartment.
What lies beneath
Since I’ve been done with finals since Tuesday, I came home to spend a few days at my parents’ place in Dunkirk, Ind. While I was home today, my dad was working to install a new 5-speed manual transmission in his 1957 Chevy Bel Air. I made a few pictures of his work as he uncovered some rust and interesting patchwork under the carpet in the interior of the car as cut a new hole in the floor for the shifter lever.
